The Fifth SZ Mozart Music Week Opening Concert

Program:

1. Bach’s “Concerto for Four Pianos in A Minor, BWV1065”

Pianists: Andreas Weber (head of the Leopold Mozart Institute for Encouragement of Talented Students at the University of Music and Dramatic Arts Mozarteum Salzburg), Kang Yongze (artistic director of the Shenzhen Mozart Music Festival and artistic director of the Leopold Mozart Institute for Encouragement of Talented Students Asia-Pacific Institution), Marie Sophie Hauzel (performer at the Piano Department of the University of Music and Dramatic Arts Mozarteum Salzburg) and Chen Cheng (performer at the Leopold Mozart Institute for Encouragement of Talented Students Asia-Pacific Institution)

2. Mozart’s “Recitative and Rondo ‘Ch’io Mi Scordi Di Te?’ for Soprano, Piano and Orchestra, K505”

Soprano: Wang Yi (Macao soprano and doctor of musical arts at the University of Cincinnati College’s Conservatory of Music)

Pianist: Fang Wanru (performer at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts)

3. Mozart’s “Piano Concerto No. 34 in A Major, K488”

Pianist: Bai Yanfeng (winner of the fourth Shenzhen International Piano Concerto)

4. Chaminade’s “Concertino, Op. 107”

Flautist: Nathan Rinaldy (student at the Leopold Mozart Institute for Encouragement of Talented Students)

5. The first movement of Shostakovich’s “Piano Concerto No. 2”

Pianist: Luo Na (performer at the Leopold Mozart Institute for Encouragement of Talented Students Asia-Pacific Institution)

6. The third movement of Chopin’s “Piano Concerto No. 1 in E Minor”

Pianist: Caitlan Rinaldy (performer at the piano department of University of Music and Dramatic Arts Mozarteum Salzburg)

7. The first movement of Rachmaninoff’s “Piano Concerto No. 2 in C Minor, Op. 18”

Pianist: Marie Sophie Hauzel (performer at the piano department of the University of Music and Dramatic Arts Mozarteum Salzburg)

8. The third movement of Rachmaninoff’s “Piano Concerto No. 2 in C Minor, Op. 18”

Pianist: Ren Ziming (performer at the piano department of the University of Music and Dramatic Arts Mozarteum Salzburg)

Time: 8 p.m., Nov. 15

Macao Chinese Orchestra

The Macao Chinese Orchestra will collaborate with pianist Yuan Fang to perform “Yellow River Piano Concerto” and “The Story of Spring Piano Concerto.” The orchestra will also present other traditional Chinese pieces. “Yellow River Piano Concerto” was arranged by six composers in 1969, including Yin Chengzong and Chu Wanghua, and based on the 1939 “Yellow River Cantata” by composer Xian Xinghai. It is noted for its revolutionary theme that integrates a post-romantic music structure with passion, beauty and power along with highly skilled solo phases.

Les Petits Chanteurs de Saint-Marc

Children’s choir Les Petits Chanteurs de Saint-Marc from France will sing popular songs at a concert. It was founded in 1986 by Nicolas Porte. The choir’s repertoire varies widely from spiritual hymns to classical and contemporary music. Les Petits Chanteurs acquired recognition with the release of the 2004 film “Les Choristes” for which they provided the vocals for the soundtrack. One of the soloists, Jean-Baptiste Maunier, was chosen to play a lead role in the film.
