Bao’an upgrades plan to fight water pollution
    2019-11-13  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

IN order to further implement the city government’s work plan for water pollution control, Bao’an District has issued a work plan to trace sewage sources, as the elimination of polluted water has entered a critical stage in the city.

The pollution fight is said to be the key to ensuring the elimination of black and smelly bodies of water and water below Grade V, the lowest level in China’s five-tier water quality grading system, by the end of 2019.

According to the work plan, Bao’an will resolutely implement comprehensive sewage interception and rainwater and sewage diversion. Through terminal screening and precise source tracing, the district will rectify all kinds of irregularities, including illegally discharging sewage into rivers and mixing sewage with rainwater.

During the pollution fight, the district will uphold four principles, namely comprehensive inspection, tracing sewage sources, sewage diversion and treatment of the sources, and rainwater and sewage diversion.

Bao’an will also establish a long-term management mechanism to ensure clean bodies of water.

The district will establish an inspection mechanism. After tracing the sewage sources, a river inspection team and problem rectification team will be formed to conduct dynamic management of all drainage outlets.

Meanwhile, the district will strengthen observation and monitoring. Inspection wells for the observation of incoming water will be set up at key nodes, such as places where the branch flows into the main stream and the concealed culvert flows into the open channel.

In areas where conditions permit, automatic water quality monitoring facilities and other equipment will be built to realize dynamic monitoring and to obtain the water quality data on the branch of concealed culverts in real time.

The district will also ensure that sewage is fully collected and treated, while at the same time increasing its sewage treatment capacity, repairing leaky pipes and strengthening the operation and supervision of sewage treatment facilities.
