A POPULAR science exhibition organized by Shenzhen Association for Science and Technology and Shenzhen Institutes of Advanced Technology (SIAT) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) opened yesterday at Shenzhen Children’s Palace, a subvenue of the 21st CHTF.

The monthlong exhibition will display and exhibit more than 100 technological items through real object exhibits, models, photos and illustrations to visitors.

The exhibition will show the major technological advancements and the exploration of CAS through sea, air, land, life science, agriculture and large science facilities.

Through interaction and displays, students can learn about Shenzhen’s progress and achievements in robotics, artificial intelligence, brain science, new materials, marine technologies and science and the arts education for Shenzhen juveniles.

Under the guidance and introduction of students, visitors attending the exhibition yesterday learned about the 500-meter Aperture Spherical Radio Telescope astronomical observatory and the Micius satellite for quantum science experiments through models.

They saw some innovative products, such as apparel that can change color with the temperature and light, voice-controlled dustbins and robotics that help disabled persons to walk.

Besides the exhibitions, SIAT will hold popular science workshops for school students. The first workshop will be held Nov. 23 and six guests, including academicians with CAS, will lecture on paleontology, urban planning, brain science, synthetic biology, the arts and dance and science history.

A science innovation conference will be held Nov. 27, in which experts in science innovation and education will share ideas on education reforms that will encourage innovation in science.
