New hospital to start trial operation
    2019-11-29  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

SHENZHEN University Pinghu Hospital, a new city-level public hospital located in Longgang District, will start trial operation at the end of the year, according to Shenzhen Municipal Health Commission.

The commission signed an agreement with Shenzhen University (SZU) on Wednesday stating that Pinghu Hospital, which is under construction, will become an affiliated hospital directly under the university.

Positioned as a Grade A hospital, the top level of China’s three-tier hospital grading system, it aims to become an intelligent, international and modern high-level hospital that integrates medical treatment, scientific research and teaching, rehabilitation and health care.

The hospital, located in the northwest corner of the intersection of Hutian Road and Sanhao Road in Pinghu Subdistrict, covers an area of about 56,000 square meters and is designed to provide 1,500 beds.

It will be the third municipal public hospital built in the district following Shenzhen Third People’s Hospital and Shenzhen Center of Cancer Hospital of the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, and is expected to fill the need for a municipal public hospital in the Pinghu area, which has a population of nearly 600,000.

The hospital is planned to reach the standard of a Grade A hospital, receive an international medical quality certification within five years and build at least three to five key national or provincial level specialties within eight years.

In the future, the hospital will focus on the development of specialties, such as general medicine, cardiology, nephrology, hematology, rheumatology and immunology, neurosurgery, respiratory medicine, orthopedics, gynecology and obstetrics, stomatology, rehabilitation and interventional radiology, as well as a urogenital center and emergency trauma center.

A trauma center, chest pain center and stroke center will also be established according to high standards.

As an affiliated hospital of SZU, Shenzhen University Pinghu Hospital will be developed into a hospital for medical education and clinical teaching, with the aim of cultivating medical talents for Shenzhen.

Meanwhile, SZU will give full play to its advantages in scientific research and strive to turn the hospital into an incubation center for new medical materials, implant instruments and new medical technologies within five to 10 years, as well as a first-class medical innovation platform integrating medicine, industry, education and research.

According to the plan, the hospital will be put into trial operation at the end of this year. Its outpatient department will open before June 30, 2020, and its inpatient department will open before Dec. 31, 2020.
