Shorter trip

DRIVERS from Shenzhen to Zengcheng Development Area in Guangzhou will save about 30 minutes on the trip thanks to the opening of Nanxiangshan Interchange of Guangzhou-Huizhou Expressway.

The construction of the interchange started in July 2018.

Cross-border children

LUOHU Checkpoint has designated a special area for the inspection of cross-border children at the departure hall on the second floor of the Immigration Building.

It has manual inspection lanes, e-lanes and newly designed lanes for electronic labels.

Luohu Checkpoint handles about 230,000 travelers a day, including about 5,000 Hong Kong children who live in Shenzhen and cross the border to study at Hong Kong schools.

Frozen embryos

LUOHU District People’s Court recently handled its first case involving the returning of frozen embryos and delivered the two frozen embryos back to a couple according to the court decision.

The couple had four frozen embryos preserved in a test tube baby center in a hospital in 2016. They requested to take away the two remaining frozen embryos in 2019 after they had two embryos transferred but failed to conceive. The hospital refused and said there were risks in delivering embryos directly to individuals.

Witnessed by the court, the two frozen embryos were taken out and transferred to a device provided by the couple for temporary storage.
