THE 2019 Shenzhen International Marathon is scheduled to be run from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. this Sunday, with 30,000 runners from around the world taking part. The organizing committee announced Friday that temporary traffic controls will be in effect during the event to ensure road traffic safety and order.

From midnight Saturday to 2:30 p.m. Sunday, the auxiliary lane in the western direction on Shennan Boulevard (the Jintian Road to Yitian Road section) will be fully closed for the construction of facilities relevant to the marathon.

On Sunday, the main and auxiliary lanes in the western direction on Shennan Boulevard (Huanggang overpass to Xinzhou overpass section) will be fully closed from midnight to 2 a.m. and from 5 a.m. to 2 p.m., according to the organizing committee.

Meanwhile, traffic controls will be implemented on the sections of Fuzhong 3rd Road (Caitian Road to Yitian Road) and Fuzhong Road (Jintian Road to Yitian Road) from 5 a.m. to 2 p.m., as well as sections of Jintian Road, Pengcheng 5th Road, Haitian Road and Zhongxin 8th Road.

From 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, temporary traffic controls will be launched along the entire route, including sections of Shennan Boulevard, Shennan Road, Shahe West Road and Wanghai Road.

Runners of both the full and half marathon will start at the Civic Center in Futian CBD. The route for the half marathon will end near China Resources Tower on Dengliang Road, while full-length runners will need to backtrack along the route and return to the Civic Center.

Runners can collect running materials at the South Square of the Civic Center from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. from Thursday to Friday, and from 10 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. on Saturday.

Citizens are reminded to pay attention to the notices and guidance provided by the traffic police, and to plan their trips in advance. For more race information, citizens can check the official website, http://www.shenzhenmarathon.org.
