Nonstop traveling

STARTING Jan. 1, 2020, car owners will no longer be able to enjoy having ETC devices installed in their vehicles for free, according to a Shenzhen Evening News report yesterday.

Also, ETC users will be able to enjoy passing along expressways without stopping to pay tolls as the fees will be calculated by sensors according to their traveling distance. The removal of most expressway toll booths at provincial borders will be accomplished by the end of the year.

Websites suspended

THE websites of Visual China Group and IC Photo, both online visual content and service providers, yesterday were required to suspend service for comprehensive rectification due to multiple violations.

The two Chinese online visual content giants violated regulations on providing Internet news and information services and conducting cooperation involving Internet news and information services with foreign enterprises, according to the Cyberspace Administration of China.

Anti-gang campaign

POLICE from Guangdong Province have detained more than 1,400 suspects after launching more than 1,000 criminal investigations in a special campaign performed in cooperation with their Hong Kong and Macao counterparts between July and December, a senior police officer said.

A number of criminal gangs that used to be active in the southern Chinese region have also been busted, said Qian Bo, deputy director of the Criminal Investigation Bureau with the Guangdong Provincial Department of Public Security, at a press conference in Guangzhou.
