Rare cliff paintings

TWO cliff paintings featuring images of human faces and over 100 tower-shaped cliff paintings have been discovered in the Tongtian River basin in Northwest China’s Qinghai Province, local authorities said Wednesday.

They are engraved in a mountain located about 600 meters from the river in the source region of the Yangtze River in the Yushu Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture.

The paintings of human faces are round-shaped and measure about 30 cm and 35 to 40 cm wide in diameter, respectively.

Aged care services

THE Ministry of Civil Affairs is recruiting experts in the field of elderly care services to promote the healthy development of the sector and better cope with an aging population.

Personnel engaged in theoretical and policy research or practical aged care services in central and State organs, their affiliated policy research institutions, Party schools, institutions of higher learning and local civil affairs departments, among others, are eligible to apply, the ministry’s elderly care service bureau said in a statement Tuesday.

Road accident

SIX people were killed and one other injured in a road accident in a village in Central China’s Henan Province, local authorities said yesterday.

The accident occurred at around 2 p.m. Tuesday in Beipo Village, Gongyi City, when a motor tricycle carrying seven villagers shot off the road at a turn and fell off a cliff.

Further investigation is under way.
