溜了溜了
    2019-12-24  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

Meaning:

“溜” means “to slip away,” and “了” is a modal particle with no actual meaning. A pet phrase of “League of Legends” gamer Liu Mou, this term is used when the speaker wants to leave an online conversation or group chat, feeling awkward or ashamed. The saying can be translated as “I’d better slip away.”

Example:

A: 我姐说昨天中午在一家自助餐厅看见你大吃大

喝。你不是在减肥吗?所以我说她一定认错人了。

Wǒjiě shuō zuótiān zhōngwǔ zài yījiā zìzhù cāntīng kànjiàn nǐ dàchīdàhē。Nǐ búshì zài jiǎnféi ma?Suǒyǐ wǒ shuō tā yīdìng rèn cuò rén le。

My elder sister said she saw you in an eating spree at a buffet restaurant at noon yesterday. Aren’t you in the middle of a diet? I said she must have mistaken someone else for you.

B: 溜了溜了。

Liūle liūle。

I’d better slip away.
