Volunteers commended

VOLUNTEERS engaged in culture-related services were commended at a conference held in Longgang District on Friday.

There are now 206 registered volunteer teams with more than 50,000 registered volunteers engaged in culture-related services in Shenzhen, it was announced at the conference.

Participating in voluntary services has become a lifestyle for many Shenzheners. According to the Shenzhen Volunteer Association, the total number of registered volunteers in the city has exceeded 1.6 million.

Medicine access

SHENZHEN’S medical insurance and maternity insurance will cover all 97 drugs that were approved by the national authority for inclusion in the new national medical insurance catalog after price negotiations between the health-care security administration and drug producers.

The move is expected to further reduce the burden of medical expenses on the general public, officials with the Shenzhen Municipal Health-care Security Bureau said.

The new national medical insurance catalog will take effect Jan. 1, 2020.
