Expired licenses

THE Shenzhen traffic police reminded 5,000 drivers whose licenses have already expired that those driving with invalid licenses will be fined 200 to 500 yuan (US$28-71). If the invalidity has been left unhandled for more than one year, police will cancel the license. Police will also publicize those drivers whose licenses have accumulated 12 penalty points in a scoring cycle and suspend the licenses if the drivers don’t take part in training and exams.

During the suspension or after a license was canceled, the driver will be fined 2,000 yuan and detained for 15 days if he or she drives on the road.

Car collision

A CAR driver who mistakenly stepped on the brake instead of the accelerator caused the collision of five cars at an intersection near Caitian housing estate in Futian District on Sunday.

No injuries were reported.
