Han Ximin ximhan@126.com THE 2020 Spring Festival holiday is expected to be warm and cloudy with minimum temperatures of 13-15 degrees Celsius, Shenzhen Meteorological Observatory said at a news conference. The 40-day Spring Festival transport season is divided into two periods. During the first period between Jan. 10 and 30, the weather will be warm and dry with average temperatures 0.5-1.0 degrees Celsius above that from the same period last year. Between Jan. 31 and Feb. 18, the weather will be cold and wet because of cold air from the north, according to the meteorological observatory. Although the province is unlikely to experience sustained cold or icy weather, the observatory has reminded drivers returning after the holiday between Jan. 31 and Feb. 18 to be aware of wet and foggy weather that may last six to eight days. During the pre-festival period, two or three rounds of cold air will affect the city and bring down the temperature to a minimum of 10 degrees Celsius. Northern Guangdong will have icy weather for three days, posing a threat to vehicles leaving the province. The weather between Dec. 31 and Jan. 1 will be cloudy with sunny periods and the temperature will drop three to four degrees Celsius because of the cold air. The minimum temperature on New Year’s Day will be 14 degrees Celsius and the maximum temperature will be 20 degrees Celsius. |
