Road civility index

SHENZHEN scored 88.95 points on the urban road civility index in November, an increase of 1.37 points over the previous month and the highest score ever recorded.

Compared with October, the four sub-indices, which track the law-abiding rate, citizen satisfaction, traffic facilities and sidewalk accessibility, all increased by varying degrees in November.

Dapeng New Area scored the highest in the road civility index with 98.03 points, followed by Yantian District with 95.42 points. Longhua District scored the lowest with 87.64 points.

Internet scam

A WOMAN surnamed Liu in Bao’an District fell victim to an Internet scam in August and was swindled out of more than 90,000 yuan (US$12,886). However, the scammer recently took the initiative to contact Liu and said he had fallen in love with her.

The scammer surnamed Wu told Liu that his foreign fraud gang had been disbanded and he hoped to renew their relationship after he returned to China on Dec. 14. Wu asked Liu to meet him at a shopping mall in Bao’an on Dec. 16. Liu pretended to agree. The police arrested Wu as soon as he appeared.
