Free tickets

SHENZHEN Welfare Lottery Issuing Center gave out free train and bus tickets to workers at a ceremony Monday.

To help workers go back to their hometowns for the Spring Festival holiday, the center has set aside 4 million yuan (US$573,200) and will send 9,000 people home on buses and trains.

This is the center’s 14th year organizing the philanthropic activity, for which it has invested an accumulative 29 million yuan.

Hazy days

SHENZHEN recorded nine hazy days in 2019 by Saturday, the lowest number since 1989.

The most hazy days were reported in January, August and December.

Between January and November, the average PM2.5 concentration density dropped to 24 milligrams per cubic meter.
