Tips offered for holiday consumption
    2020-01-02  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

AS we are now less than a month away from the 2020 Spring Festival, Shenzhen Consumer Council has offered a number of shopping tips for consumers to prepare for a smooth and hassle-free Spring Festival, southcn.com reported.

The council suggests that consumers be vigilant about the use of online virtual services, such as online games, digital red packets and online social networking.

Consumers should protect their online accounts and report to the service providers in a timely manner when encountering problems like network failure and transaction failure, the council said.

It is also advised that consumers select legal and qualified travel agencies when booking package tours, and sign travel contracts with travel agencies, read the terms of the contracts carefully and make clear the travel itinerary, transportation, accommodation, as well as liability for breach of contract before traveling.

Consumers should ask for invoices after payment and keep important documents and receipts, such as travel contracts, itineraries, tickets and invoices.

When making special purchases for the Spring Festival, it is recommended that consumers select goods produced by legal businesses and check the production date and shelf life of food.

Additionally, buyers should be wary of links that pop up abnormally on shopping websites and choose third-party payment platforms to make payments.

It is advised that consumers pay attention to the difference between a down payment and a deposit when booking their family reunion dinner at a restaurant, and look at the name, content, size and price of the dishes and other specific charging items carefully.

According to the council, consumers should first consult with the operators in the case of a dispute. If both parties fail to reach a settlement, they can lodge a complaint by calling 12345 or through the council’s WeChat account, “szxf315.”
