Samsung Ballie follows you around at home
    2020-01-08  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

Samsung unveiled on Monday its vision for the futuristic home, where robots follow around you, anticipate your needs and serve as “companions.”

At the CES show in Las Vegas, the company showed off a yellow tennis-ball-like robot named Ballie that acts as your personal assistant. The small robot packs built-in artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities, a camera and a mobile interface that are intended to help you around the house.

A demo video showed Ballie opening smart curtains and turning on the TV for a dog when its owner is away from home and sending a video of the placated pooch to the owner.

It also called a robot vacuum into action after it noticed a spill. Samsung says Ballie will be able to call for help if it sees someone has fallen and can’t get up. The rolling robot is also designed to act as a fitness assistant and has a “mobile interface” that looks for ways to improve your life as your needs change using its built-in AI.

Samsung also says they focus on “stringent data protection and privacy standards.” “We want Ballie to keep our secrets,” said a Samsung executive. “We want an AI we can trust. We are working hard to bring this to Ballie.”

Samsung teased another product called Bot Chef featuring robotic arms that help prepare meals. The company didn’t provide a timeline or price for either gadget.(SD-Agencies)
