Cash bundles have randomly been appearing in a UK village
    2020-01-16  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

FOR about five years, cash bundles featuring more than US$2,500 inside have been randomly appearing in a small village in the United Kingdom, according to the Durham Constabulary.

Officials finally have an explanation.

A couple, which asked to remain anonymous, came forward to police and revealed they’re the ones who have been leaving the high-priced packages in Blackhall Colliery since 2014, local police said.

And they’ve been doing it with the most charitable of intentions.

“Both generous individuals had recently received unexpected windfalls and told police they wanted to give something back,” reads an announcement by Durham Constabulary.

“One of the Good Samaritans told detectives that they felt an ‘emotional connection’ to the village after being helped by one of the residents so she wanted to repay the kindness she received.”

There have been at least 12 occasions where a bundle — which often includes about 2,000 pounds, or US$2,605 — has been found in the village.

In many instances, the person who found the cash has turned it in to police.

Police noted that the previous bundles left by the Good Samaritans that were turned in have each since been returned to the people who found them.

“I’m really pleased we have an answer to this mystery,” Detective Constable John Forster said in a statement.
