Shenzhen Museum

Specimens of rare animals, plants and minerals and several plates from the Sloan Digital Sky Survey telescope are on display until Feb. 5. Ancient relics from various countries along the ancient Silk Road are also on display until March 29. And a batch of Song Dynasty (960-1279) porcelains are on display until March 8.

Snack market

While most supermarkets tend to sell more traditional snacks such as nuts, plum preserves and candies at this time of the year, the snack market at Eslite Spectrum Shenzhen features new favorites, such as crisp-dried crab snacks, biscuits in mustard and honey flavors, Guizhou chili potato chips, and green tea-flavored white chocolates with dried strawberries, to name a few.

Sea World exhibitions

The “40 Years of Humanizing Technology — Art, Technology, Society” exhibition, running until Feb. 16, delves into a disruptive revolution that has been affecting humans. In the “Social Design: Learning at Play” exhibition running until Feb. 23, the People’s Architecture Office, which is renowned for taking a different approach to urban redevelopment, is exhibiting its past projects. South Korean artist Eddie Kang is exhibiting his artworks at the “Lifecycle Exhibition” running until March 1. Finely-designed books that won the “Best Books From All Over the World” competition are on display at the “The Choice of Leipzig” exhibition until March 15.

Zigong Lantern Show

The beautiful Zigong Lantern Show, the best of its kind in China, has lit up Splendid China • China Folk Culture Villages. Two hundred crafts persons from Zigong, Sichuan Province spent two months making the 105 sets of large and giant lanterns at the theme park.

Dates: Until Feb. 16

Hours: 6-9 p.m. (regular nights, no entry after 8 p.m.), 6-10 p.m. (during the Spring Festival and the Lantern Festival holidays)

Venue: Splendid China • China Folk Culture Villages, Nanshan District (南山区锦绣中华民俗村)

Metro: Line 1 to OCT Station (华侨城站), Exit D(SD News)
