A TOTAL of 111 high school students from 15 provinces and municipalities came to Shenzhen this winter holiday for a science training camp held by Shenzhen MSU-BIT University (SMBU) from Saturday to Wednesday.

The program includes two categories of classes, with one designed to give excellent high school students a chance to get to know each other as well as SMBU by visiting the campus and the other aimed at inspiring students to learn Russian through a teaching model called “flipped classroom.”

The opening ceremony was held yesterday morning in SMBU’s auditorium. Guo Yanyi, director of the university’s HR department, appreciated the students’ decision to attend the training camp.

At the same time, Guo said that the camp had invited the university’s top experts and teachers from seven teaching units to deliver lectures to ensure the students get the most from the program.

Fu Zhengliang traveled 3,000 kilometers from Harbin to Shenzhen for one simple reason, that is to gain more knowledge.

Li Mantian, an 11th-grade student from Shenzhen Middle School, showed gratitude to the university for organizing the camp while delivering a speech at the ceremony.

Some participating students said that because SMBU is their ideal university they thought this would be a great opportunity to learn more about the university, whether it is about its teaching model or the cultural environment.

In order to ensure the students have the best learning experience, the university invited excellent postgraduates and undergraduates studying at SMBU to serve as teaching assistants and head teachers for the classes.
