Illegally raised poultry confiscated
    2020-01-21  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

RESIDENTS living in Bao’an District reported recently that poultry, including chickens and ducks, were being illegally raised in Liutang Park in Xixiang Subdistrict.

Thirty animals were confiscated by the local urban administration and law enforcement bureau Friday, Shenzhen Evening News reported yesterday.

A resident surnamed Huang, who lives in the Liutang East community in the subdistrict, told the reporter that irritating noises made by the animals and the owner could be heard from his home during late hours. The poultry would run around untamed and defecate randomly in the park, which polluted the surrounding environment and disturbed the daily life of residents.

A reporter from Shenzhen Evening News found a roughly built henhouse made out of planks and bricks in the park. Several hens were walking around the henhouse, but no one was looking after them.

The henhouse was not far from the residential community. A resident surnamed Wang said that he had heard cockcrows at night, however he did not know who was raising the animals. A sanitation worker in the community added that the henhouse had been in the park for a while.

A staffer with Xixiang Subdistrict Office stated that law enforcers inspected the park as soon as they received a report Jan. 14.

The owner of the henhouse was identified and required to remove the henhouse before Thursday. He reacted idly to the instruction and consequently had his 30 poultry seized by the authority on the following day. (Zhong Hao)
