Art museum

THE complex for the new Shenzhen Art Museum and Shenzhen No. 2 Library officially started construction in Longhua District on Friday. The project is expected to be completed in 2023.

Located in the Shenzhen North Railway Station CBD area, the project is a building complex comprising an art museum and a library with a public square between the two cultural facilities.

AI competition

TWO teams stood out from 3,017 candidates and were awarded the first prizes at the awards ceremony of the first National Artificial Intelligence Challenge (NAIC) held in Shenzhen Pengcheng Lab on Saturday.

A university-enterprise joint team led by Shi Zhixiang from tech company Cloud Walk and the university team led by Zeng Hui from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University won the top prizes in the two categories “Person ReID” and “AI+4K HDR,” respectively. Each winner took home a prize of 1 million yuan (US$145,795).

Quick pass

IN about four seconds, an imported express package of cotton fabric worth 594 yuan, which was declared by SF Express, was whisked through customs formalities by the Shenzhen post office customs under Shenzhen Customs recently.

The service is part of the country’s goods clearance reform, which aims to improve the customs clearance efficiency of low-value goods and reduce the operating costs of small and medium-sized enterprises.

Litchi Park

LITCHI Park, which is located on Hongling Road Central in Futian District, has reopened to citizens after more than 50 days of treatment on filthy water caused by an algae bloom.

At present, the water quality and the surrounding areas of the park have returned to normal.

Car incident

A PRIVATE car with a license plate registered outside Shenzhen reportedly ran into a photo studio located along Tangjia Boulevard in Fenghuang Subdistrict, Guangming District, and hit a female passer-by at around 12:20 a.m. Sunday.

The driver, a middle-aged man who was suspected of drunk driving, has been taken away by police for further investigation.
