THE Shenzhen Beautiful Foundation on Jan. 30 proposed all sectors of society donate epidemic prevention materials to support sanitation workers in fulfilling their important public health roles.

As of now, the foundation has received 200,000 face masks, 12,000 medical gloves, 4,300 bottles of medicinal alcohol and 3,500 bottles of hand sanitizer, all of which have been handed out to sanitation workers, said Zhang Xiaowei, secretary general of the Shenzhen Beautiful Foundation.

Over 50,000 sanitation workers carry out their duties across the city each day, facing high risk of exposure to COVID-19.

Zhang showed her gratitude to donors at a donation ceremony held yesterday afternoon in Nanshan District.

“These donations represent the city’s care and respect for sanitation workers, which also shows us the power of our society in the virus fight. With all this help, we believe that we will finally get through this,” said Zhang.

Xu Hang, director of the Shenzhen Beautiful Foundation, spent three weeks procuring 10,000 face masks for the cause.

Huang Jingshu, chairman of the board of directors of LVGEM China, donated 10,000 face masks from their stock, originally prepared for the company’s employees upon work resumption, as well as 10 barrels of disinfectant.

Charity foundation Shenzhen Yuanju donated 200,000 yuan (US$28,832) toward epidemic prevention materials for the sanitation workers.

Many other companies from Shenzhen also gave out free fruit, meals, other food items and safety goggles through the Shenzhen Beautiful Foundation. Public sanitation workers carry boxes of donated epidemic prevention supplies including masks and protective suits yesterday.
