Latest numbers

AS the National Health Commission released on Thursday, new infections of the novel coronavirus on the Chinese mainland were reported to be 15 (8 in Wuhan, 6 from other countries), bringing the total number of infections to 80,793.

To date, 85 imported cases have been counted.

Eleven new deaths (10 in Hubei) were reported, bringing the death toll to 3,169.

Probe set up

THE State Council, China’s cabinet, has set up an investigation team to probe the deadly quarantine hotel collapse in southeast China’s Fujian Province which has killed 29 and left 42 injured.

On Thursday, the last person trapped under the debris of the collapsed hotel in Quanzhou City was retrieved and found dead.

Leader to be tested

PHILIPPINE President Rodrigo Duterte will undergo testing for the COVID-19 disease while he does not have symptoms, Senator Christopher Lawrence Go said on Thursday.

At least two members of Duterte’s cabinet who had been exposed to individuals who tested positive for COVID-19 also announced that they have decided to undergo self-quarantine.

Campaign suspended

FORMER New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg announced Wednesday that he’s suspending his presidential campaign and is endorsing former Vice President Joe Biden.
