Local bureau investigates nefarious brand registration
    2020-03-16  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

THE Shenzhen Municipal Market Supervision and Regulation Bureau recently revoked registration of brands nefariously taking advantage of popular names related to COVID-19 and punished relevant agencies, Shenzhen Evening News reported.

These names include “Zhong Nanshan,” a Chinese respiratory expert, “COVID-19,” the novel coronavirus disease, “Li Wenliang,” a whistleblower, and “Huoshenshan” and “Leishenshan,” two makeshift hospitals in Wuhan.

The bureau has been conducting inspections since March 3 and uncovered a total of 14 cases using these names nefariously.

All of them made the registration through seven agencies in the city, said the report.

Staff with the bureau then required these agencies to immediately withdraw their applications and talked to relevant persons to rectify their malpractice.

The bureau will continue monitoring brand registrations to ensure honest business environment, according to the Shenzhen Evening News report.
