SHENZHEN confirmed one new imported COVID-19 case Saturday, bringing the number of imported cases in the city to 30, according to the latest figures released by the Shenzhen Municipal Health Commission yesterday. A 20-year-old male of Chinese nationality studying in the United Kingdom returned to China, flying from Birmingham to Dubai on flight EK038 on March 21 then from Dubai to Hong Kong on flight EK380 on March 22 before boarding flight HX238 for Shanghai on March 23 and entering the Chinese mainland via Hongqiao International Airport. Upon entry he reported he had been coughing the past month, so he was sent to a local hospital for observation by ambulance. His preliminary nucleic acid test results released Tuesday were negative. On Wednesday, he flew from Shanghai to Shenzhen on flight CZ3552 and was later sent to a designated quarantine point for further observation by a designated vehicle. On Friday, he began to develop symptoms including fever, headache and aggravated coughing and was sent to a hospital by ambulance. His preliminary nucleic acid test results and reviewed results released Saturday were both positive. The patient has been transferred to the Shenzhen No. 3 People’s Hospital for treatment. The seven persons on the Chinese mainland who have been identified as having close contact with the patient have all been quarantined for medical observation. As of Saturday, Shenzhen had confirmed a total of 447 COVID-19 cases. Of the confirmed cases, 218 are male and 229 are female. (SD News) |
