Icy Tan to talk about life as an illustrator and traveler
    2020-04-02  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

Chinese illustrator Icy Tan, who is renowned for designing the Hey Tea logo, will talk about her artistic career and life at a live-streaming event on Bilibili from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. tonight. The event is organized by the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen. Search “香港中文大学深圳” or live-streaming room No. 21845454 on Bilibili to watch the talk.

Born and raised in Chengdu, Tan taught herself to draw and create through her child-like wonder and exploration of everyday life. With curious eyes set on observing the people and the world around her and her love for the diversity of cultures, Tan started her “People Watching” project in 2015 when she was living in Guangzhou. Later she moved to Chile in South America and took this project to various places throughout her travels across different continents. She has exhibited her artworks in Chile and China.

“By watching people, you can learn about human behavior and the culture behind everyday activities. Drawing is a way to capture your own take on what you observe,” Tan wrote on WeChat.

In 2017, Tan participated in and led art therapy projects in Chile, aiming to help homeless people and criminals rebuild their self-esteem through art. She hopes everyone experience more self-reflection, freedom and open-mindedness through art.(SD News)
