City’s water ecological environment improved
    2020-04-24  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

SHENZHEN ecological water environment has improved, with more species found in Dapeng Bay area including endangered white cloud mountain minnow and parazacco spilurus, according to the results of an evaluation conducted by the city’s environmental monitoring center.

The center led by example for others in the country to evaluate the city’s ecological water environment in August last year, Shenzhen Special Zone Daily reported.

The work was designed to better manage key waters by understanding the city’s ecological water environment and to formulate a comprehensive evaluation system for surface water.

The center selected a total of 86 sites for the evaluation, covering major rivers, drinking water and lakes.

Evaluation contents include benthic animals, marine algae, phytoplankton, zooplankton, fish and aquatic plants. Samples were taken in two seasons, summer and autumn, based on the city’s hydrological characteristics.  (Wang Jingli)
