Two snakes found in Futian park
    2020-05-07  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

TWO snakes, both 2 meters long, were found by visitors in Lianhua Hill Park in Futian District on Monday, Shenzhen Media Group’s Spot News reported.

The park’s security guards caught the two snakes after receiving messages and were then reassured by staff from the city’s wild animal and plant protection management center that the two snakes are not venomous.

In another development, a citizen surnamed Wang was bitten by a snake when he stepped outside to take out the trash.

Wang recalled that he did not notice the snake when opening the door and then he felt a pain in his leg. He said that the snake is in green color.

Wang was then taken to Beijing University of Chinese Medicine Shenzhen Hospital in Longgang District.

It was said that when Wang arrived at the hospital, he could barely walk on his own and his left leg was swollen.

Doctors observed that the green snake might be a venomous snake called Trimeresurusstejnegeri.

At present, Wang is still under medical observation after receiving treatment.

Besides Wang, there were three other citizens taken to the hospital because of snake attacks in recent days, according to doctors from Beijing University of Chinese Medicine Shenzhen Hospital.

Doctors suggested that citizens avoid walking in bushes and forests and do not wear sandals and slippers when taking a walk.

If working in a wild environment, people are advised to wear long trousers to avoid snake bites.

When bitten by snakes, citizens should leave the area immediately and go to the hospital for treatment as soon as possible.
