Beijing film festival online screenings close with ‘Bombshell’
    2020-05-07  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

The online movie screenings of the Beijing International Film Festival closed with Oscar-winning drama film “Bombshell” on Tuesday.

Starring Charlize Theron, Nicole Kidman and Margot Robbie, “Bombshell” won the 2020 Oscar for achievement in makeup and hairstyling. It follows a group of women who take on Fox News head Roger Ailes and expose a culture of harassment in the newsroom.

Originally scheduled from April 19 to 26, the festival was postponed and this year’s screenings were moved online amid the country’s battle against the novel coronavirus.

Running on video platform iQiyi from May 1 to 5 under the title “Spring Online Screenings,” the screenings opened with Oscar-winning film “Marriage Story” and featured a total of 32 films.

Written and directed by Oscar-nominated filmmaker Noah Baumbach, “Marriage Story” is referred to as an incisive and compassionate look at a marriage coming apart and a family staying together. It stars Scarlett Johansson and Adam Driver. (Xinhua)
