THE Shenzhen Municipal Public Works Bureau will soon invite bids for the designs of Shenzhen Conservatory of Music and Shenzhen Innovation and Creative Design Institute, two of the city’s 10 new cultural facilities.
Work on the conservatory will start this August.
Shenzhen Conservatory of Music is located inside the International University Campus, Longgang District, neighboring CUHK-Shenzhen.
The project covers 73,800 square meters and the floor area will be 129,700 square meters. The project is budgeted at 1.75 billion yuan (US$247 million).
The core design contents include classrooms, practice studios, a library, dormitories, performance auditoriums (including a 700-seat A-level competition theater, a 500-seat music hall and a 200-seat rehearsal hall), and science research space (including music technology center, music management center and music therapy center), according to documents released by the public works bureau.
Shenzhen Innovation and Creative Design Institute is located at the Greater Airport area in Bao’an District, 3.5 kilometers away from Shenzhen International Airport. The institute covers 365,000 square meters. The floor area will be some 319,252 square meters. The investment is estimated to be 3 billion yuan. Work on the project will start before the end of the year.
