Han Ximin, Chen Jianwen ximhan@126.com PROFESSOR Li Hezhang, vice president of Beijing Institute of Technology (BIT), was appointed as rector of Shenzhen MSU-BIT University (SMBU), according to an announcement at the SMBU board meeting Saturday. Professor Li, born in 1961 in Shandong Province, is a doctoral degree holder in engineering. He has served as vice president of BIT since March 2006. “It is an honor to serve as the succeeding rector of SMBU and I appreciate the trust and support from the Shenzhen government, Moscow State University and Beijing Institute of Technology as well as the Board of Directors of SMBU,” said Li at the meeting. Shenzhen MSU-BIT University was established with support from the heads of state of China and Russia, and with the devotion of the three sides. Li said he would fulfill his obligation as rector to bring the university to the fast track of development, living up to the expectations of leaders and making good use of the resources provided by the three parties. The university has achieved great progress in its development over the past few years. It was inaugurated in September 2017 with a total of 115 students and will eventually become a comprehensive university with 5,000 students on campus. |
