Adviser calls for greater cooperation between SZ, GZ
    2020-05-19  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

DESPITE a difference in planning and development priorities, both Shenzhen and Guangzhou are key engines of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, and share abundant opportunities for cooperation, says political adviser Lin Na.

Lin is the chairwoman of the Shenzhen Municipal Committee of Taiwan Democratic Self-Governance League and a member of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, the country’s top political advisory body.

“Guangzhou and Shenzhen should be more clear about their own positioning, establish a collaborative working mechanism and further strengthen exchanges and strengthen cooperation,” Lin suggests.

Specifically, Lin believes that the two cities can strengthen the integration of policies and resources to solve the difficulties encountered when turning scientific and technological achievements into products and services.

“Guangzhou can give full play to the advantages of universities, scientific research institutes and other innovative institutions, while Shenzhen, with its high degree of marketization, can play a role in the transformation of scientific and technological achievements,” Lin said.

Lin believes that the in-depth cooperation between Guangzhou and Shenzhen in higher education will become a powerful booster for the coordinated and high-quality development of sci-tech innovation in the two cities.

Lin also suggests that Guangzhou and Shenzhen take the lead in cultivating innovation-oriented professional and technical talent in the Pearl River Delta, and strengthen the cooperation between schools and businesses.

As quality medical services represent an important aspect of a high-quality living environment, Lin proposes that hospitals in Guangzhou and Shenzhen establish a medical alliance that promotes remote consultation, a two-way referral system, joint medical treatment, scientific research cooperation and talent training.
