Futian to have new hospital for children and women
    2020-05-21  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

FUTIAN District will have a new hospital for women and children by the end of 2023, the Shenzhen Municipal Planning and Natural Resources Bureau announced recently.

The Futian Maternity & Child Health-care Hospital will be located at the junction of Antuoshan No. 1 Road and Qiaoxiang No. 3 Road, where construction was started in November last year and is expected to be completed in December 2023.

The project has held the construction license since June 19 last year. Part of the licensing conditions has been changed according to the application of Futian District Health Bureau: The building will be no higher than 90 meters and 640 parking places will be provided, compared with the initial plan of 85 meters and 800 parking places.

The over-20-story hospital will cover an area of 17,346.93 square meters and have a floor area of 140,000 square meters. Upon completion, it will provide 800 hospital beds and 21 operating rooms.

The hospital will be a 3A-grade hospital, the highest in China’s three-tier grading system for public hospitals, to provide multi-functional usage including medical treatment, health care, disease prevention, teaching and research.

The shape of the hospital will be designed to incorporate stages, meaning a process of pregnancy, giving birth and growing up, according to AIA Associes, the design firm.

In order to streamline medical functions, the obstetrics department, NICU (newborn intensive care unit) and operating department will be arranged on the same floor to increase work efficiency since the three departments work very closely together.
