LOCAL kindergartens have been given permission to open after June 2 assuming required standards are met, announced the Shenzhen Municipal Education Bureau on Wednesday, after a notice released by the Guangdong Provincial Education Department.

Education training institutions that provide lessons for students who will again sit this year’s college entrance examination (the gaokao) and adult gaokao as well as both grade 12 academic and art students can apply to conduct offline lessons starting Monday.

Other training institutions are reportedly able to resume face-to-face teaching starting June 2, said the municipal education bureau.

The notice required kindergartens and training institutions to submit applications to district-level COVID-19 prevention and control offices.

Both kindergartens and training institutions should have comprehensive preventative measures in place to ensure student safety.

District-level offices will inspect the environment of kindergartens and training institutions to avoid a second wave and then report the list of qualified schools to the municipal epidemic prevention and control office.

Only after receiving permission from the municipal epidemic prevention and control office can schools resume face-to-face teaching.

At the same time, health departments in each district will arrange nucleic acid tests for all kindergarten faculties in different batches.

Kindergartens should also make sure that all faculty and children go through a health report through “深i您” platform two days before they return to school.

Additionally, each kindergarten should have one vice president and one liaison worker to manage the school’s health and hygiene work. For example, they should arrange training on epidemic prevention and control for kindergarten faculty one week before the reopening date.

Kindergartens should respect parents’ decision on whether to send their children back to schools. For those who have decided not to return to campus this semester, kindergartens should reserve their places in school.

Kindergartens that will not reopen this term cannot charge students tuition fees.
