SAIC sales

THE country’s biggest automaker SAIC Motor expects the nation’s auto sales to post year-on-year growth in the second quarter due to recovering demand and supportive policies, its chairman said Friday.

With promotion and more premium products, SAIC is aiming for sales to outperform the overall Chinese market this year, said Chen Hong, chairman of the Shanghai-based automaker,.

Pork prices

CHINA’S pork price will not see significant rise as hog production is gradually recovering, a senior official said Friday.

Han Changfu, minister of agriculture and rural affairs, said the average wholesale price of pork has dropped slightly for 13 consecutive weeks, 23 percent down from its peak, which is roughly equivalent to a reduction of 12 yuan (US$1.69) per kg.

Mobile games

THE mobile game sector continued to see robust growth in April, with the monthly revenue surging 24.4 percent year on year, an industrial report showed.

The revenue of the online game market reached nearly 16 billion yuan (US$2.26 billion) in the last month, data from research institute CNG showed. The growth, hitting an all-time monthly high for April, came despite a drop in users amid nationwide work resumption.
