New landmark to be built in Xiaomeisha
    2020-06-10  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

TRIPLE Wave, an architectural design that has passed expert reviews and three rounds of votes, is expected to be a landmark in Xiaomeisha after the renovation project in Yantian District is completed in 2024.

Experts selected the design out of 52 entries in a 2-month-long contest because, as they have said, Triple Wave not only highlights mountain and sea elements, but also satisfies the demands for functionality and practicability.

Renovation of the Xiaomeisha area is a key project of the city and one of the first tourism rejuvenation projects of the city coordinated by the Yantian District Government.

The Triple Wave project is located in the central area of Xiaomeisha and covers an area of 10,000 square meters. It will be a multifunctional tourism facility that incorporates a tourism information center, a convention and exhibition center and multi-media rooms.

The developer, Shenzhen SEZ Construction and Development Group, has budgeted 15 billion yuan (US$2.12 billion) in renovating the Xiaomeisha coastal belt. The renovation project covers 250 hectares of land and 130 hectares of the sea. The coastal area will feature an underwater museum, cable car service, food street, watch tower, swimming pool, slow-traffic bicycle lane, diving center and coral reef center.

A calling card of Shenzhen’s tourism, the area will be a world-level metropolis tourism resort that integrates tourism, residences and businesses.

It consists of a sea-land park that is connected with four vitality areas. The four areas include a feature town with business streets, a fantasy sea world, Dreamland Meisha Bay and a forest area, whose valley, lake and creeks are linked by greenways.

Work on the new Ocean World started in September last year and the urban rejuvenation project will start this year.
