Student enrollment

SHENZHEN University will enroll 4,155 students for postgraduate studies starting the 2020 school year, an increase of 42 percent over the previous year, a source from the university said Friday.

Summer holidays

THE holidays for primary schools and secondary schools will start July 12 and 18, respectively, according to an announcement by the Shenzhen Municipal Education Bureau on Friday.

School for the fall semester will start Sept. 1. Students in the final year of senior high schools will start lessons Aug. 10.

CPI increases

THE city’s consumer price index (CPI) in May increased by 2.7 percent compared with April. The price index in first five months of this year increased by 4.6 percent over the same period last year, statistics from Shenzhen survey team of National Statistics Bureau showed Friday.

In May, food prices increased by 13 percent and non-food prices increased by 0.2 percent, compared with the previous month.
