‘Bologna Illustrators Exhibition’ hits Yealife
    2020-06-19  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

“Bologna Illustrators Exhibition China Tour and Scarry’s 100th Birthday Exhibition” at Yealife features 387 illustrations created by 81 international illustrators and original drafts by U.S. children’s author and illustrator Richard McClure Scarry.

The Bologna Children’s Book Fair, launched in 1963 in Italy, is the world’s leading professional event dedicated to the children’s publishing industry. Many of the illustrations selected from the fair travel each year to museums, galleries and libraries in many countries and regions.

Over the past 57 years, the Bologna Children’s Book Fair has been the world’s premium copyright exchange hub when it comes to publishing, also extending to current multimedia and licensing businesses for children’s stories, illustration, animation and related areas.

It is also the event where a number of major awards are given, such as the BolognaRagazzi Awards, the Hans Christian Andersen Awards and the Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award. In recent years, selected award-winning illustrations have been on display in China every year.

Scarry (1919-1994), who published over 300 books with total sales of over 100 million worldwide, delighted in telling funny stories, and even wrote several very clever detective stories. He is also well-known for his educational books which help teach children words and spelling, how to count, and to always have nice manners.
