Shenzhen gives out Mayor’s Awards

SHENZHEN has given out the 2019 Mayor’s Awards to 19 enterprises in six categories covering economics, culture, society, ecology, management and service, according to the latest government gazette.

Shenzhen Middle School also won a special award for its contribution.

In the category of economics, Shenzhen Airport Shareholding Co. Ltd. and Sunwoda Electronics Shareholding Co. Ltd. won the top prize. Yantian International Containers Terminal Co. Ltd., China Ping An Property Insurance Co. Ltd. and Vertiv won the second prize, and six other companies including BGI, Shenzhen Main Luck Pharmaceutical Inc. and Shenzhen 3nod Digital Technologies Co. Ltd. won the third prize.

Hong Kong University Shenzhen Hospital won the first prize in the category of society and China Power Construction Ecology Environment Corp. won the second prize in the category of ecology for treatment of the Maozhou River.

In the category of management, the Shenzhen Urban Transportation Planning and Design Research Center and Shenzhen Municipal Traffic Police Bureau won the first and second prizes.

In the category of service, the blockchain receipts developed by Shenzhen’s taxation bureau won the first prize. Shenzhen International Culture Industry Fair Co. Ltd. won the second prize in the category of culture.

A total of 112 enterprises and organizations had participated and applied for the awards, 50 more than the previous year.

Forty-nine enterprises of those 112 had business revenues that exceeded 1 billion yuan (US$141 million). Applicants from the high-tech industry and the newly emerged industries took up 26.4 percent and 36.1 percent, respectively.

Four enterprises in Bao’an District won awards, ranking it No. 1 among districts. The first-prize winners in the category of economics came from Bao’an.

For the 2019 selection, Shenzhen Mayor’s Awards had been expanded from a single prize award to a comprehensive award that is divided into different categories.
