Miniapps for tracking public restrooms
    2020-07-07  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

It seems that there are smartphone apps for almost everything — and now there is a miniapp within WeChat that lets you track public restrooms in Shenzhen.

The city’s Urban Administration and Law Enforcement Bureau has launched “e厕达” which tracks more than 4,200 public restrooms in the city. The miniapp also gives information of toilet paper supplies, availability of baby-nursing space and restrooms for the physically challenged, and navigation routes. Users can review a restroom’s cleanness and neatness on the miniapp after they use it.

Since 2017, Shenzhen has built 338 new public restrooms and improved 2,197 ones. In 2018, a hi-tech restroom with an odor detector, constant temperature and humidity control, smart ventilation and an emergency alarm was built opposite the north gate of Yijing Garden on Aiguo Road in Luohu District.

Luohu District also has a miniapp within the WeChat called “智慧城市公厕” for people to find public restrooms within the district. The miniapp even tells you whether a restroom has squat pits or Western toilets.
