STUDENTS sitting for the gaokao today are advised to avoid the morning rush hour peak and leave their homes as early as possible.

Based on the historic data of the past week, police estimate the rush hour traffic will reach its peak at around 8:15 a.m.

During the morning rush hour, heavy traffic of inbound vehicles will be seen on the roads from National Highway 107 and Meilin Checkpoint to Nanshan and Futian districts. The traffic at Meilin Checkpoint will slow down starting at about 6:50 a.m. and resume normal speeds after 9:10 a.m.

Police will send 1,000 officers to patrol the roads on motorcycles. Students who need help can call 8333-3333 for assistance.

The morning exam will start at 9 a.m. and students are required to arrive at exam venues 60 minutes in advance.

Meanwhile, today’s temperature will range between 28 and 33 degrees Celsius and there will be occasional showers. As the weather is hot, residents are advised to take precautions to keep cool.
