A homophone of “网易云” (NetEase Cloud), this term plays on the word and replaces “ease” (易) with “depression” (抑). It makes fun of the phenomenon that many young people leave over-exaggerated sad comments about songs on the app NetEase Cloud Music, especially on topics of unrequited love, failure to get enrolled in an ideal university or numbing their pains by alcohol. This phenomenon has even caught the concern of NetEase, which promises to have psychologists and volunteers help users who need help with their depression. The company says it will also have better oversight of its app and try to eradicate fake comments. In general, this term can be used to mock those who fake or exaggerate their sadness.
