History museum set up in Guomao Building
    2020-09-03  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

LOCATED on the 42nd floor of the 53-story Shenzhen International Trade Center Building, which is commonly known as Guomao Building, a history museum showcasing the past of the iconic skyscraper officially opened Tuesday, sznews.com reported.

One of the most famous landmark buildings in Shenzhen, Guomao Building was once the tallest in China at 160 meters, with a notable record of “building one floor in just three days.”

According to Yang Lixun, director of the Party history research office of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Shenzhen Committee, Guomao Building has witnessed the great practice of reform and opening up and the rapid rise of the Shenzhen Special Economic Zone.

In a sense, the history museum is a microcosm of reform and opening up under the leadership of the CPC, said Yang.

Built by Shenzhen Properties & Resources Development (Group) Co. Ltd., the history museum covers an area of more than 300 square meters and is divided into six parts, displaying hundreds of items such as archives, cultural relics, old photos and objects, as well as video clips.

Liu Shengxiang, chairman of the company, said the history museum is a treasure trove containing special memories for many people.

The establishment of the museum aims to truly restore the historical facts of the major reform measures in Guomao Building, record those unforgettable historical moments, and serve as a reminder of reform and opening up, according to Liu.

The museum is currently open to group reservations.
