THE 8th China Charity Fair will be ready to open at the Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Center in Futian District on Sept. 18, according to a press conference yesterday.

A total of 1,966 organizations and projects from across the country have declared their intention to participate in the fair, and 1,969 poverty-relief products have been registered to be showcased at the fair.

China aims to lift all rural residents living below the current poverty line out of poverty and realize the goal of building a moderately prosperous society in all aspects by the end of this year.

Echoing such efforts, this year’s charity fair will focus on addressing the difficulties in poverty alleviation, promoting the long-term development of poverty-stricken areas and special groups among the impoverished, and integrating anti-poverty resources through online and offline channels.

To promote the poverty alleviation projects, the fair has set up a special fundraising Web page with online crowd-funding platforms such as Tencent Gongyi and Sina Gongyi, the public welfare arms of Internet giants Tencent and Sina, respectively.

At present, 22 poverty alleviation projects have been selected for online crowd-funding, exhibition and promotion, with more than 100,000 people having participated in online donations.

Meanwhile, live-streaming activities will be held to expand the marketing channels and promote the sales of agricultural products provided by people in poor areas, with the aim to increase their income and help lift them out of poverty.

The fair has also launched a number of public welfare projects to tell the stories of China’s poverty alleviation efforts. These projects will invite influencers and artists to raise awareness for charitable causes.

The China Public Welfare Project Contest and China International Philanthropic Movie Festival are also highlights of this year’s charity fair.

The contest has selected the top 30 projects in the country, while the festival has collected over 460 films recording poverty alleviation and the participation of all sectors in epidemic prevention and control.
