Bougainvillea center

THE city’s first bougainvillea research center, jointly built by the Shenzhen Garden Research Center and Shenzhen Nongke Group, was unveiled Tuesday.

The center will introduce high-quality bougainvillea to enhance the city’s bougainvillea industry.

Traffic supervision

THE city’s traffic authority added 317 new facilities in districts including Futian, Longgang, Bao’an, Pingshan, Luohu and Longhua to spot traffic irregularities such as not wearing a seatbelt and using a phone while driving.

Business mediation

SHENZHEN Business Mediation Association, the first of its kind in China, was inaugurated recently.

In developed countries, 80 percent of disputes are settled through mediation, while the rest go through arbitration and court proceedings. But in China, the situation is a stark contrary. The establishment of the association is expected to be helpful for solving disputes at earlier stages and relieve the burden of courts and arbitration institutions.
