Daily passenger turnover reaches 11m trips
    2020-09-23  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

THE daily passenger turnover of Shenzhen’s public transport system has reached 11 million trips, among which the Metro service takes half of the total.

Bus services handle about 3.25 million trips a day, statistics from the Shenzhen transport bureau showed Monday, the first day of the public commuting promotion week.

About 1.14 million and 80,000 trips a day are handled by app-based cabs and shared bikes, respectively. At present, 10 Metro lines, running about 383 kilometers, have become the backbone of city’s public transport. The city operates 898 bus routes, and 96 percent of all areas in the city have at least one bus stop within a distance of 500 meters.

The city has also built 1,057 kilometers of bus lanes.

The city has 64 cab companies running 21,689 e-cabs. Eighteen app-based car hailing companies operate in Shenzhen, with the registered drivers and vehicles reaching 92,200 and 61,543, respectively.

Shenzhen has received the title of national model city in public transport.

Earlier this month, Shenzhen had been chosen to be a pilot city for building national strength in transportation by the Ministry of Transport.

In one to two years, Shenzhen Metro Line 10 will extend to Fenggang in Dongguan, Line 14 to Huiyang in Huizhou, Line 11 to Chang’an in Dongguan, and Line 22 to Tangxia in Dongguan.

In three to five years, Shenzhen Metro Line 6 spur line linking with Line 1 in Dongguan will be put into operation.
