SZ shares smart city experience
    2020-09-25  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

SHENZHEN’S experience and achievements in smart traffic construction were shared on Huawei Connect 2020 in Shanghai on Wednesday, Shenzhen Special Zone Daily reported.

Leveraging technological advantages in 5G, cloud computing,  artificial intelligence (AI) and other fields, Huawei has cooperated with dozens of its partners to help the Shenzhen Municipal Government build a unified service and command system involving 42 government departments in the past years, Guo Ping, Huawei’s rotating chairman, said.

Peng Zhongyang, president of Huawei’s Enterprise Business Group, said at the meeting that the development of a smart society in the future needs a new model on digital transformation and Shenzhen is leading the nation in this regard, building a world-class rail system.

Passengers can handle check-in by themselves through facial recognition at Shenzhen Bao’an International Airport.

Technologies, including 5G, video, AI and big data, enable automatic corrections of faults in Metro rails and tunnels, reducing 70 percent of the daily patrol workload.

Moreover, because the Metro trains have a 360-degree dynamic image detection system with an accuracy rate of 97 percent, it saves 60 percent of the labor costs.

Smart city, an important platform for new infrastructure, has become an indicator to cities’ construction on new infrastructure, said the report.

Since July 2018, Shenzhen has worked in three aspects, specifically network communication, advanced computing and Internet security, and has also built Pengcheng Laboratory.  Huawei and the laboratory jointly released Pengcheng Cloud Brain II Phase 1 in November 2019, officially launching the journey to AI clusters at 1,000 petaFLOPS (PFLOPS) scale.

As the city’s governance becomes more digital, online administrative services are available with just a few clicks.

Huawei also collaborated with Shenzhen to build a Pengcheng smart system based on cloud technology and AI.

The combined work builds a smart system featuring open, three-dimensional perception, all-inclusive collaboration, precise judgment and continuous evolution — which is the foundation of smart city construction. The system will help Shenzhen become a global digital economy model city, said the report. (Wang Jingli)
