大牛
    2020-10-12  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

Meaning:

“大” means “big,” and “牛,” which literally means “bull,” is a Chinese slang term for “cool, awesome.” Coined by Chinese netizens, this term, similar to “牛人” (niúrén), refers to people who are recognized as the top talents in a field. Sometimes, the term also refers to Lamborghini racing cars depending on the context.

Example:

A: 我的电脑总是出问题,你认不认识懂技术的人帮我

修修?

Wǒ de diànnǎo zǒngshì chū wèntí,nǐ rènburènshí dǒng jìshù de rén bāng wǒ xiūxiu?

My computer breaks down from time to time. Can you find a guy with knowhow to fix it for me?

B: 你表哥就是个大牛,上次我们公司的服务器坏了,他十多分钟就解决了问题。

Nǐ biǎogē jiùshì ge dàniú,shàngcì wǒmen gōngsī de fúwùqì huài le,tā shíduōfēnzhōng jiù jiějué le wèntí。

Your cousin is an expert. Once the server broke down in my company, and he fixed it in just a little more than 10 minutes.

A: 我还真不知道,只知道他爱玩游戏。

Wǒ hái zhēn bù zhīdào,zhǐ zhīdào tā ài wán yóuxì。

I had no idea he could fix computers. I only knew that he’s a diehard gamer.
