CHINA Southern Airlines has moved all of its operations from Beijing Capital International Airport to Beijing Daxing International Airport, and beginning with the new winter and spring flight season that started yesterday, it will operate more than 400 flights at the Daxing airport every day, linking to more than 40 cities in the country.

As the largest airline company operating out of Daxing, China Southern Airlines handles about 50 percent of the traffic of the airport, according to a release of the company yesterday.

Currently it operates 60 flights between Beijing, Guangzhou and Shenzhen. During rush hours in the mornings and evenings, the company’s flights between Beijing and Guangzhou take off at intervals of less than an hour. Flights to Changsha, Guiyang, Zhuhai, Haikou, Sanya, Harbin, Dalian, Shanghai, Hangzhou, Chongqing, Xi’an and Urumqi will also increase.

In the new flight season, it will open routes connecting Southern cities Guangzhou and Shenzhen with western cities, such as the Shenzhen-Xishuangbanna route.

For the convenience of passengers, the airline company has launched several beneficial services including rewards for extra flight mileage, free flight changes, penalty-free over-weight luggage, free ground transportation and pick up services.

Passengers can change flights departing from Daxing free of charge four hours before departure until Oct. 30, 2021. For luggage, passengers will be given an extra 10 kilograms beyond the designated quota of 20 kilograms per person.

China Southern Airlines unveiled its new base at Daxing airport this May. The first phase has a total floor space of 879,000 square meters. It is the largest project in the history of China Southern Airlines.

It will be a single hangar, including an aviation food base, and with a construction scale covering an area of 1.08 million square meters on six land parcels, the base will have Asia’s largest air operation and control center, according to the operator.
