Lopez, Hammer target action-comedy
    2020-10-29  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

JENNIFER LOPEZ is taking aim at love in the new action-comedy “Shotgun Wedding.”

The Golden Globe-winning “Hustlers” actress — and recipient of the 2020 People’s Choice Icon Award — will star in and produce the upcoming romantic spectacle through her Nuyorican Productions banner, with “Rebecca” and “Call Me By Your Name” performer Armie Hammer co-starring opposite Lopez.

Directed by Jason Moore and produced by Ryan Reynolds and Lopez’s longtime partners Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas and Benny Medina, “Shotgun Wedding” follows Darcy (Lopez) and Tom (Hammer) as they gather their lovable but opinionated families for a picturesque destination wedding. Upon arrival, the couple begins to get cold feet, though a dangerous hostage situation quickly heats up the tension as Darcy and Tom are forced to save their loved ones and their impending marriage.

“Jennifer and Armie’s irresistible magnetism, separately and together, make them the perfect pairing for this action comedy,” Erin Westerman, Lionsgate’s president of production, said of the film in a press statement.

Also producing the film are “Mandeville’s Wonder” team Todd Lieberman and David Hoberman, in addition to Alex Young, Courtney Baxter, and George Dewey.

Production on “Shotgun Wedding” is expected to begin in early 2021, though a release date has yet to be announced.
